Shooting Drills to Improve Accuracy
Shooting is arguably the most important skill in basketball, and improving your accuracy takes dedication and repetition. Start with close-range shots to develop proper form. Take 20 shots from within 1 meter of the hoop, focusing on your stance, grip, and follow-through. Once consistent, move to mid-range jump shots, attempting 15 successful shots from 3 different spots on the court.
The "Around the World" drill is an excellent way to improve accuracy from multiple angles. Begin on the baseline, take 2 shots from each of 6 key spots around the three-point line, and only move to the next spot after making the shot. For free throws, practice 25 attempts in a row and aim for a minimum of 80% accuracy to simulate in-game pressure situations. Advanced players can challenge themselves with off-the-dribble shooting. Start at the three-point line, dribble twice, and pull up for a shot. Perform this 10 times from each side of the court. Repeating these drills daily for at least 30 minutes will lead to noticeable improvements in your shooting percentage during games.
